Three Ashland University wrestlers are still nationally ranked in the latest NCAA Division II wrestling rankings – redshirt juniors Chandler Minnard and Bret Romanzak, and redshirt sophomore Tristen Weirich.
Minnard (10-4) was ranked No. 5 at 141 pounds. He most recently won the Midwest Classic, and earned a victory in his match against Mount Union. Romanzak (22-4) stayed at No. 5 in the NCAA's most recent rankings at 165 pounds. Since his fifth-place finish at the Midwest Classic, Romanzak earned wins in the Eagles duals with Mount Union and Notre Dame College. Weirich (18-6) has moved up to No. 9 at 285 pounds. He's been on a roll lately, earning a fourth-place finish at the Midwest Classic, a win at Mount Union, and a victory over the nation's No. 1 heavyweight Kameron Teacher on Saturday (Jan. 12).
Ashland University's wrestling team moved up one spot to No. 17 in the most recent rankings. The Eagles are 7-2 in duals this season.
Ashland will compete next at the Greyhound Duals in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday (Jan. 19) at 2 p.m.
