AU Remains No. 1 In Region

Ashland University's wrestling team held steady at No. 1 in the NCAA Super Region Three rankings, released on Wednesday (Nov. 27) night.

The Eagles (93 voting points) were ranked just ahead of Notre Dame College in second (91), and well ahead of the third-place team, West Liberty (63).

All 10 grapplers in the starting lineup for the Eagles were slotted in the top six individually in the region.

Redshirt senior Christian Price (4-4) at 165 pounds, and redshirt senior Bret Romanzak (15-2) at 174 pounds, were selected as the top grapplers in the region.

Redshirt senior Chandler Minnard (11-3) at 141, junior Carson Speelman (13-3) at 149, junior Aidan Pasiuk (7-2) at 184, and junior heavyweight Tristen Weirich (11-4) were all picked second regionally.

Redshirt senior Lawrance Dudgeon (2-3) was ranked No. 3 at 133 pounds, junior Cameron Jenkins (6-4) came in at No. 4 at 157, redshirt sophomore Peter Abraham (5-2) was also No. 4 at 197 pounds, and redshirt junior Christian Wellman (6-1) was No. 5 at 125 pounds.

Ashland's next matchup will come against No. 4 Pitt-Johnstown in Kates Gymnasium on Saturday (Dec. 7) at 3 p.m.
