Eagles No. 8 In United Soccer Coaches Region Rankings

The Ashland University women's soccer team have climbed into the United Soccer Coaches' Midwest Region rankings for the first time this season, moving in at No. 8 the organization announced on Tuesday (Oct. 3) afternoon.

The Eagles (6-3-1, 3-0 GLIAC) have won four straight games heading into Friday's (Oct. 6) tilt against No. 4 Grand Valley State (8-2, 3-0 GLIAC) at Ferguson Field.

Ashland won three games last week, defeating Notre Dame (2-1), Davenport (3-2 in overtime) and Purdue Northwest (4-0).

Senior Morgan Bittengle was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, scoring in each of the three games, including the game winners against Davenport and Purdue Northwest.

Fellow senior Kelsey McKernan had five assists last week, matching a school record with three helpers in the win over Purdue Northwest. She now has a GLIAC-high six assists, which rank 11th nationally.

Kickoff against the Lakers on Friday is set for 4:30 p.m. at Ferguson Field.
