Lee Named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

Ashland University sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Lee was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday (Sept. 11) morning.

She is the first AU player to win GLIAC defensive honors since Courtney Barker in the opening week of 2016. Morgan Bittengle was a three-time winner of the offensive award in 2017.

Lee posted consecutive shutouts and preserved Ashland's unbeaten record last week.

She made three saves in a 3-0 win over Notre Dame College last Wednesday, and made three additional saves in a 2-0 win over Bridgeport (Conn.), which came into the game receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll.

On the season, Lee has nine saves and a 0.47 goals against average as the Eagles improved to 3-0-1 overall.

AU will play three games this week, beginning Wednesday (Sept. 12) against Charleston at Ferguson Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
