Lee Wins GLIAC Defensive Award For Second Straight Week

For the second consecutive week, Ashland University sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Lee was selected as the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Sept. 17) afternoon.

Lee allowed just one goal over three games last week, helping the Eagles to a 2-0-1 record.

She earned the win in a 4-1 victory over Charleston last Wednesday. On Friday, she recorded six saves, including a couple diving efforts and another that she tipped over the bar to preserve a 5-0 shutout of Davenport at Ferguson Field.

Against No. 3 Grand Valley State on Sunday, she was precise in her decision-making in the box and stopped six shots for the Lakers as she and sophomore Abby Lampe combined on a clean sheet. The 0-0 tie snapped Ashland's 17-game losing streak to the high-powered Lakers, who have been shut out just one other time since their 2015 season opener.

For the season, Lampe has made 21 saves and holds a 0.41 goals against average. She now has three shutouts and one combined shutout on the year.

The Eagles (5-0-2) will continue their five-game homestand on Friday (Sept. 21) when they play host to Parkside in their GLIAC opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Ferguson Field.
