The Ashland University women's soccer team is ranked No. 22 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday (Sept. 18) afternoon.
The Eagles (5-0-2) are riding a seven-game unbeaten streak to start the season. They were last ranked in the Top 25 on Sept. 13, 2016 when they were in the No. 21 spot. That season, Ashland started the season with a 5-0-3 overall mark.
Ashland heads into GLIAC play on Friday coming off a stretch of three games in five days in which they went 2-0-1. The last of those contests came Sunday with the Eagles blanking then-No. 3 Grand Valley State in a 0-0 draw.
The Eagles are one of four teams in the region without a loss.
Ashland is tied for the second-highest scoring offense in the GLIAC with 17 goals on the season, while also giving up just 0.39 goals per 90 minutes – a mark that ranks second in the conference.
Redshirt-junior Deijah Swihart is tied for the league lead with six goals and freshman Mary Grace Haney is tied for second in the GLIAC in assists with three.
Sophomore keeper Hannah Lee is the two-time defending GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Eagles will resume their five-game homestand on Friday (Sept. 21) when they welcome UW-Parkside in the GLIAC opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
