Eagles Sit No. 7 In Midwest Region Rankings

The Ashland University women's soccer team is ranked No. 7 in the third and final Midwest Region rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Oct. 31) afternoon.

The top eight teams in the region will qualify for the NCAA Tournament with automatic bids going to the tournament champions of the GLIAC, GLVC and G-MAC. The full NCAA field will be announced on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Not included in the rankings this week is Ashland's 1-0 win over Michigan Tech in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday.

The Eagles (10-3-5) will now play No. 1 Grand Valley State in the tournament semifinal at 5 p.m. in Allendale, Mich. AU tied the Lakers, 0-0, at home in September and lost to GVSU, 3-0, on the road earlier this month.

Ashland, in its first season under interim head coach Taylor Clarke, is looking to qualify for its first NCAA Tournament since the 2004 season when the Eagles advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four.
