Wright, Lee Earn OSCA All-Ohio First Team Honors

Ashland University redshirt-junior center back Sydney Wright and sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Lee were selected to the Ohio Soccer Coaches Association All-Ohio NCAA Division II/NAIA first team, the organization recently announced.

The awards add to a growing list for the pair after both were selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region team and to the All-GLIAC first team.

Wright captained the Eagles (10-5-5) to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2004, leading one of the top-rated defenses in the GLIAC. Ashland compiled a 0.82 goals against average on the season and posted 10 shutouts in 20 games.

She had a goal and three assists on the season. Wright won GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 24 after Ashland allowed just eight total shots in shutout wins over Parkside and Purdue Northwest.

Lee made 13 starts for the Eagles and was named GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year despite missing time with injuries. She allowed just three goals in the season's first seven games as Ashland rolled out to an 11-game unbeaten streak.

Lee also made six saves in the first 73 minutes of a 0-0 shutout against then-No. 3 Grand Valley State, earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. She finished the year with four solo shutouts and was a part of six in total, including the first 89 minutes, 38 seconds of a 4-0 win over Northern Michigan. She had 49 saves and a 0.81 goals against average, the eighth-best in program history.

The Eagles finished their first season under interim head coach Taylor Clarke.
