Krispinsky Posthumously Named OCSA Coach of the Year

Former Ashland University women's soccer coach Danny Krispinsky was posthumously recognized as the 2018 Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association's Women's Coach of the Year.

Krispinsky, who passed away Jan. 1 after a courageous battle with cancer, was the Eagles' head coach for five seasons from 2013-17 and recruited the 2018 squad that qualified for the program's first NCAA Tournament since 2004. The Eagles finished last season with a 10-5-5 overall record. Krispinsky stepped away from the program in the summer of 2018 as he continued his health fight.

In his five years at the helm, Krispinsky amassed 58 wins and reached the 10-win mark in all five seasons. The Eagles qualified for the GLIAC Tournament each season. He was the league's Coach of the Year in 2016.

Krispinsky authored the women's soccer program's turnaround as the Eagles had just one winning season in the seven years prior to his appointment. Now, the Eagles are primed to be a regional contender.

He coached or recruited 18 players who were All-GLIAC selections and two who won major GLIAC awards. He had another player who was selected as an Academic All-American.

Krispinsky, a 2006 Ashland University graduate, played soccer for the Eagles from 2002-05, earning All-GLIAC honors twice and finishing second on the team in scoring as a senior. The Eagles won the GLIAC title that season.

He was an assistant coach with the AU men's program in 2010 and 2011 as the Eagles won their first GLIAC Tournament title in 2010 and had a 13-5-3 overall record.

Memorial contributions in Krispinsky's honor may be made to the Daniel Krispinsky Ashland University Women's Soccer Team Endowment Fund.
