Lewis Wins GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

Ashland University sophomore forward Faith Lewis was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Sept. 16) afternoon.

Lewis scored two goals and had an assist last week as the Eagles went 2-1 against Ohio teams on the road.

She is the first AU player to win a GLIAC Player of the Week award this season, and it is the first weekly honor in her career. The last AU player to win the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award was Morgan Bittengle on Oct. 30, 2017.

Lewis scored the third goal in the 78th minute of Ashland's 3-0 win at Tiffin last Tuesday. She hit a high arcing shot from just outside the area over the head of the Dragons' keeper.

On Sunday, her goal just before halftime gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead at Ohio Dominican, and she later assisted on the overtime goal scored by senior Deijah Swihart that gave the Eagles a 4-3 win.

Her five points lead the Eagles and are tied for sixth in the GLIAC.

The Eagles return to Ferguson Field on Thursday (Sept. 19) at 1 p.m. to take on Trevecca Nazarene.
