Women's Tennis Drops 5-4 Decision to Northwood

The Ashland University women's tennis team lost to Northwood Friday (Oct. 1) at the AU Tennis Courts, 5-4.  The loss leaves the Eagles with a 7-2 record, 6-2 in GLIAC play.

Up until last week, the 'Wolves had won 70 consecutive conference wins.  Grand Valley State ended that string. Northwood is 5-1 overall and in the conference.

Paige Cooper (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) had the most success for the Eagles. She won her singles match against Nikoletta Kaposzta, 6-0, 6-1.  She teamed with Victoria Goudy (Lexington, Ohio) for an 8-3 triumph over Svenja Stephan and Kaposzta.

Ashland's other singles victory was provided by Alexandra Ware (Plymouth, MI/Plymouth Salem), who got the best of Nicole TenBrink, 6-1, 6-1.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 2), when they host Saginaw Valley State.
