Eagle Netters Win Fourth Straight at Lake Erie

ASHLAND, Ohio – The AU women's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Sunday (Sept. 25) with a sweep of host Lake Erie in Mentor, Ohio.

The Eagles (6-1, 6-1 GLIAC) lost only one game in singles play. Junior Erika Sullivan (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-BH), senior Paige Cooper (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington, Ohio) and Zdenka Pozo (Cochahamba, Bolivia/Cochahamba Cooperative) all won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Torrie Goudy (Lexington, Ohio) won at first singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Sullivan is now 6-1 on the season while Pozo and Cooper both improved to 5-2.

At first doubles, sophomore Kira Kotova (Moscow, Russia) and freshman Sally Trout (Laura, Ohio/Milton-Union) beat Jordyn Parrigan and Erika Ginn, 8-2.

Freshman Ashely Palmer (Madison, Ohio) and junior Megan Gisclon (Ashland, Ohio) topped Sydney Victor and Brittany Kelly, 8-6. It was Palmer's first appearance of the season and Gisclon's second in doubles play.

The final two singles matches and the third doubles match went uncontested.

The Eagles host Ohio Dominican on Tuesday (Sept. 27) at the AU Tennis Courts at 3 p.m. The match is a make-up from a postponement due to Friday (Sept. 23) afternoon's rain showers.
