Ashland University's women's tennis team won its first match of the 2014-15 season on Monday (March 2), defeating Davis & Elkins, 7-2, in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Eagles received singles victories from junior Martina Baca (6-2, 6-2), sophomore Meghann Fitzpatrick (7-6, 3-6, 10-3), junior Kendal Stephens (6-3, 3-6, 11-9), junior Daniela Alves (6-2, 6-0) and senior Sally Trout (6-2, 6-0).
Alves is 3-0 in singles this spring.
AU's doubles teams of Baca/Fitzpatrick (8-2) and Stephens/Trout (9-8 (7-5)) also earned victories.
The Eagles return to the court on Tuesday (March 3) at 12:30 p.m. in Hilton Head against Central State (Ohio).
