The Ashland University women's tennis team was defeated by Grand Valley State, 9-0, on Sunday (Oct. 16) in Allendale, Mich.

The Eagles are 0-10 overall and in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with one fall conference match and two out-of-conference spring matches remaining. Grand Valley improved to 8-2 overall and in the GLIAC with the win to hold their spot in third place.

AU senior Meghann Fitzpatrick played two close sets in first singles before eventually losing to Lakers sophomore Madison Ballard, 7-5, 6-3.

UP NEXT: Ashland's last conference match is at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio, on Saturday (Oct. 22) at 10 a.m.
