Ashland Women Going For Third Win Saturday At Home

After three matches, Ashland University women's tennis already has more wins than it did in all of 2016-17.

The Eagles (2-1) will try to triple last year's total in a home match against Division III opponent Capital (0-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

AU hasn't won two straight matches since Oct. 13 and 19 of 2015, but the team's morale is high after the solid start.

"Our confidence is up," second-year head coach Lexi Bolesky said. "But we are still remaining humble. The girls understand that this is a process, and our goal is to grow together and improve at every opportunity we are given."

The Eagles haven't faced the Crusaders since Bolesky took over as head coach, but she says the team isn't doing anything different in preparation for a new opponent.

"We look at it as another match and opportunity to compete to the best of our ability and to improve on what we are currently working on," Bolesky said.

Because Bolesky hasn't used the same lineup in any of the first three matches, Capital likely will also have to prepare the same way it does for any other opponent.

"Lineups constantly change due to what we can't control," Bolesky said. "After our two 5-4 finishes, our girls understand that every point is important and know the importance of being their best in whatever position they're placed."
