On its first road trip of the season Saturday (Sept. 30), the Ashland University women's tennis team lost to 3-0 Wayne State, 9-0.

It's the first time this season the Eagles (3-3) have dropped two straight matches. They lost to Tiffin (4-0) on Friday (Sept. 29).

"Even though these weren't the results we were hoping for," sophomore Brianna Brdicka said, "they're motivating us to work and play even harder."

Brdicka played in the No. 1 singles spot for the first time this season and lost 6-1, 6-1.

After beginning the season 4-0 in singles matches, Ashland sophomore Allison Brooks lost her second such match, this time in three sets.

"This is going to drive us to work harder in practice," she said. "Every one of us is improving by the day, and I am looking forward to giving it our all next weekend."

AU will continue its streak of facing undefeated opponents as it travels to Midland, Mich. to take on Northwood (2-0) on Friday (Oct. 6) at 2 p.m.
