Eagles Fall To Saginaw Valley At Home

Ashland University's women's tennis team lost to the Saginaw Valley Cardinals (4-2) on Sunday (Oct. 7) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition.

The Eagles won doubles play, before the Cardinals got the better of them in singles play and won the match 5-2.

Freshman Gabriella Hudec and sophomore Camille Ringot earned a big 6-3 win in the second doubles slot.

Freshman Huntyr Lake and sophomore Hazuki Ogino won their doubles contest in a back-and-forth match that lasted nearly 90 minutes. They won by a score of 7-6. The duo got the 12-10 win in a tiebreak game that saw several lead changes.

In singles play, junior Allison Brooks was the lone Eagle to earn a win. Brooks won her match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the sixth singles slot, for her third win of the year.

Ashland's women will play next on Saturday (Oct. 13) at Grand Valley State at 10 a.m.
