Ashland Women Victorious In Key Conference Match

Ashland University's women's tennis team earned a tightly-contested 4-3 victory on Saturday (Oct. 20) over Purdue Northwest in nearby Lexington, Ohio.

"Today was a great college tennis match and a challenge for us," said Ashland women's tennis head coach Lexi Bolesky. "Purdue Northwest has improved a lot from last season, so it is encouraging to walk away with the win. We look forward to continuing on our positive momentum for tomorrow's match."

The Eagles (2-8 overall, 1-7 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) will play next on Sunday (Oct. 21) at 1 p.m. in Lexington against Davenport (1-7, 1-7). The winner of that match will qualify for the 2018 GLIAC Tournament.

Ashland got off to a rapid start on Saturday, winning all three doubles matches.

The duo of sophomore Hazuki Ogino and freshman Gabriella Hudec closed out the winning ways in doubles for the Eagles, 6-4.
