Eagles Win Doubles, Lose To Ferris State At GLIACs

Ashland University's women's tennis team lost its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships second-round match to fifth-ranked Ferris State on Saturday (Oct. 27), 4-2.

The Eagles were able to win doubles to gain the early advantage in the match. Sophomore Anna Hart and junior Brianna Brdicka picked up the first doubles win for Ashland with a 6-4 victory. The duo of freshman Gabriella Hudec and sophomore Hazuki Ogino sealed the deal with their 7-5 win in the third doubles slot, clinching the point for the Eagles.

Sophomore Camille Ringot picked up the sole victory for Ashland in singles play. Ringot, in the third singles slot, won her first set 6-3, before dropping the second set. She won the third in dominating fashion to win her match, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.

Ashland's women will wrap up the GLIAC Championships on Sunday (Oct. 28) against seventh-seeded Saginaw Valley State at 8:15 a.m.
