Eagles Finish Season in Eighth Place in GLIAC

Ashland University's women's tennis team lost its seventh-place match at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday (Oct. 28), a 4-3 decision against Saginaw Valley State.

The Eagles were able to pick up its three points thanks to some strong singles performances. In the fourth singles slot, sophomore Anna Hart lost her first set, but rallied back in the second and third sets to win the match, 0-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Junior Allison Brooks was able to win a long match as well in the fifth singles slot, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, while sophomore Hazuki Ogino won her sixth singles match by default.

Ashland had two players lose in competitive three set matches.

Sophomore Camille Ringot lost in a hard fought three set match in the third singles slot, 6-0, 6-7, 6-4. Junior Brianna Brdicka also battled to a third set in her match, losing 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

Ashland concluded its fall season with an eight-place finish in the GLIAC.

The Eagles will begin play in the spring season on Feb. 24 at Mercyhurst.
