AU Earns Resounding Victory At Oberlin

Ashland University's women's tennis team won by a wide margin at Oberlin on Wednesday (March 20).

The Eagles won 7-0, winning every match, and only dropping one set.

At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Anna Hart and junior Brianna Brdicka won their match 8-4. The next slot down featured the sophomore duo of Hazuki Ogino and Camille Ringot. They won their match 8-7. At No. 3 doubles, the freshman pairing of Larissa Wieser and Nikhol Pluta did not face an opponent.

Singles play was more of the same for Ashland's women, as they were dominant all the way through the lineup.

No. 2 singles was the first to finish, as Ringot made quick work of her opponent, Alandria Bellamy, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Next to finish was No. 4 singles. Brdicka also won in straight sets, and lost just four games, winning 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Gabriella Hudec did not slip up at No. 1 singles, winning her match in two lengthy sets, 7-5, 6-4.

Hart also won her contest at No. 3 singles. She beat Francesca Kern in three sets. Hart dropped the first 4-6, then fought back to win the next two definitively, 6-1, 6-3. Ogino rounded things out winning in straight sets at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2.

Junior Allison Brooks won at the No. 6 slot, as she did not face an opponent.

The Eagles' next match will be at home against Notre Dame on Friday (March 22) at Lakewood Racquet Club at 5 p.m.
