Ashland University's women's tennis team won its second straight 7-0 match on Friday (March 22).
The Eagles topped Notre Dame in the match, taking every point.
Starting things out in doubles play for Ashland was a 6-2 win by No. 1 doubles, sophomore Anna Hart and junior Brianna Brdicka. Sophomore Hazuki Ogino and freshman Nikhol Pluta won a hard-fought 7-5 match at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Camille Ringot and freshman Adele Pruni won by default, as the Falcons did not field a No. 3 doubles team.
Singles play was more of the same for Ashland.
Freshman Gabriella Hudec won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Ringot also won in straight sets at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Larissa Wieser was the most dominant of Ashland's singles players on the day, winner her match at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0.
The only three-set match was won by junior Allison Brooks, who battled back after dropping the first set, 1-6, 6-4, 10-4. Pluta and Pruni won, as the Falcons did not field singles players at No. 5 or No. 6.
The Eagles will look for a third straight win on Saturday (March 30) against Davis & Elkins at 1 p.m. at home.
