Ashland Women Make It Four Straight Wins

Ashland University's women's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Sunday (Sept. 22) at Ursuline.

The Eagles didn't drop a single match on their way to a 7-0 rout.

"Today was a great team victory preparing us for a big GLIAC weekend ahead," said senior Allison Brooks. "I'm proud of this team and the effort we have put in this season. We are looking forward to continuing to improve our record this season."

Ashland swept all doubles matches, only dropping two games combined in all three matches. Sophomore Larissa Wieser and freshman Zoe Rosu won their No. 1 match, 6-2. Brooks and sophomore Lydia Bice swept their match, 6-0. Sophomore Huntyr Lake and freshman Kristyn Conrad also won their match at No. 3 doubles, 6-0.

In singles play, Ashland won all six matches in straight sets. At No. 1 junior Hazuki Ogino won her match, 6-1, 6-1. Brooks claimed the victory at No. 2 without dropping a single game, 6-0, 6-0. Wieser only dropped one game in her 6-0, 6-1 win.

At No. 4 singles, Bice won in a dominant two-setter, 6-0, 6-0. Lake also won her match at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0. Conrad rounded out all the two-set wins with another 6-0, 6-0 win.

Ashland will play next on Saturday (Spt. 28) back at home against Michigan Tech in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at 10 a.m.
