Eagle Women Fall On The Road In GLIAC Match

Ashland University's women's tennis team lost its first match of the weekend at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Oct. 12).

The Eagles (8-5 overall, 3-3 GLIAC) were bested by the Cardinals, 5-2.

In doubles play, sophomore Gabriella Hudec and junior Camille Ringot won their No. 1 match, 6-3. The other two Eagles pairings lost, giving the doubles point to Saginaw Valley.

Moving on to singles play, Ringot and junior Anna Hart were Ashland's only winners. Ringot won her No. 4 match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Hart played at the No. 5 slot and had to grind out a three-setter. She won the first set, 6-1, but dropped the second, 6-7. In the decisive third set, Hart won 7-5 to clinch a victory in a long battle of a match.

Ashland's next match will be on Sunday (Oct. 13) at Northwood at 1 p.m.
