Ashland University's women's tennis team lost its first match at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday (Oct. 25) night.
The Eagles were bested 4-0 by the No. 2-seeded Grand Valley.
Ashland had one pairing in doubles win a match. Junior Camille Ringot and senior Allison Brooks won their No. 3 doubles match, 7-5. It wasn't enough for Ashland, as the Lakers narrowly won the No. 2 doubles match, 7-5, over sophomore Gabriella Hudec and junior Hazuki Ogino. Grand Valley also won No. 1 doubles to claim the doubles point.
The Lakers took three more singles matches to clinch the 4-0 win.
The Eagles will play next in the GLIAC Championships on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 3:45 p.m. in Midland, Mich.
