Snider Leads Eagles to 3-0 Win at Michigan Tech

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ashland University volleyball team came off its six-day break in exploding fashion, coming away with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-11) win at GLIAC foe Michigan Tech on Friday (Sept. 17) evening.

The Eagles (5-3, 2-2 GLIAC) have now won two straight and play one more match Saturday (Sept. 18) on their season-opening nine-match road trip.

AU trailed briefly in the first two sets, but won points down the stretch in each to pick up wins. The Eagles cruised to a 25-11 win in the third set.

Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Snider (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) had perhaps her best game of the season ratcheting 21 kills in 37 attempts with four errors for a .459 hitting percentage – the second-highest of any AU player this season with at least 12 kills in a match. Snider also had four service aces in the match.

Freshman outside hitter Kate Eckels (Loveland, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame) finished with a double-double with 10 kills and a match-high 15 digs. She also had three total blocks (one solo, two assisted).

Junior libero Arian Martin (Independence, Ohio) finished with 14 digs for AU, while sophomore setter Crystal Elliott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) had 37 assists.

The Eagles will remain in the Upper Peninsula on Saturday (Sept. 18) and play at Northern Michigan at 2 p.m. The Wildcats are 8-0 on the season.
