The Ashland University volleyball team is headed to the NCAA playoffs next week and that makes for a busy time. However, there is always time for recruiting and last week, the Eagles received two commitments for next season.
Kilee Kimmel and Camrey Saye announced last week that they will attend AU beginning in the fall and play volleyball. Kimmel is 5-5 defensive specialist and Saye is a 6-0 outside hitter.

Kilee Kimmel (Tiro, Ohio/Buckeye Central) – Kimmel is a two-time, first team all-conference selection. During her career she was named first and third team all-district. She ended her career with 1,722 assists and 59 service aces. She led Buckeye Central to the state Final Four in 2012. That year, Buckeye Central was 26-3.
Kimmel is a four-year letter winner in volleyball and a three-time letter winner in basketball. She plans on majoring in dietetics.
"Kilee has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years old," said AU head coach Cass Dixon. "I remember seeing here as a 12-year-old playing with 14-year-olds and she had great ball-handling skills. She'll really help fill the void when Marci (Zegarac) and Megan (Rohlfs) leave. She's a great kid and she'd run through a wall if you asked her to. She comes from a notable program."
Camrey Saye (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) – Saye was named first team all-conference as a senior. She was a third team All-Southwestern Conference selection as a junior. She's fifth in career kills (701) at Edwardsville. She had a team-leading 247 kills this season.
With Saye in the lineup, Edwardsville was 122-38, won four conference championships, four district titles and three sectional crowns. Edwardsville finished third in the state her freshman season and reached the state Elite Eight her sophomore and junior seasons.
Saye plans to major in nursing.
"Camrey comes from a very strong high school program and a great club program," said Dixon. "She'll add depth to the outside and the right side. She'll challenge our existing players right away. She works hard and looks to have fun."
