Ashland Drops in Four to Northern Michigan

The Eagles dropped their Saturday afternoon match against Northern Michigan 3-1.

Ashland falls now to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Wildcats improved to 4-5, and keep their GLIAC spotless with a 3-0 record.

In the first set the Eagles went up 10-5. Samantha Zuber led the Eagles offensively. She recorded five kills in set number one. One of those kills gave AU a 21-16 advantage late in the first. Ashland went on a 4-0 run to finish the first set, which ended, 25-17, on a block assist by Zuber and Rylee Scott.

Ashland fell in the next three sets 25-23, 25-21, 25-20.

Zuber tallied 11 kills in the four set match. Alli Cudworth recorded a double-double on the afternoon with 17 kills and 10 digs. Maureen Johnson played tough at the net. She assisted six blocks.

As a team the Eagles had 46 kills on 134 attempts. They hit .142 from the floor and collected seven aces. AU had nine blocks .

Ashland plays again on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 pm when they travel to Painesville, Ohio to take on Lake Erie.
