Eagle Volleyball Rallies For 2-1 Crossover Record

Fortunately for Ashland University's volleyball team, recent history – less than 24 hours earlier, in fact – didn't repeat itself.

On Friday (Oct. 16) night at the 2015 Mizuno Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover in Aurora, Ill., the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Truman, but lost in five sets. On Saturday (Oct. 17) afternoon, AU was down 2-0 against McKendree, but rallied for a 3-2 (25-27, 15-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-9) victory.

Ashland finishes this year's Crossover at 2-1, and is 14-6 on the season.

After hitting .037 in set No. 2 to go down 2-0, the Eagles cumulatively hit .333 in the match's final three sets.

Junior outside hitter Alli Cudworth had a double-double, finishing with 22 kills and 12 digs to go with six service aces. Cudworth landed a spot on the all-tournament team.

Senior middle blocker Samantha Zuber had 15 kills and six block assists, and junior outside hitter Casey Clark added 13 kills, 16 digs and four block assists.

Junior setter Mallory Slyder recorded 43 assists, four kills and nine digs, while freshman libero Kaitlin Bean had 16 digs.

The Eagles will return to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday (Oct. 23) at 7 p.m. at Saginaw Valley State.
