AU Volleyball Picked Second In South In GLIAC Preseason Poll

Ashland University's volleyball team has been chosen to finish a close second to Findlay in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's South Division, as the 2016 GLIAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll was revealed on Tuesday (Aug. 9) morning.

The Eagles received two of seven first-place votes in the South, and had 32 voting points overall. The Oilers earned the other five South first-place votes, and finished with 35 voting points. Wayne State (25 voting points) is picked to finish third in the South.

Ashland has won GLIAC South Division titles four times – 2004-05 and 2012-13.

In another tight vote in the North, Ferris State received four first-place votes and 44 overall points, Hillsdale has two first-place votes and 41 points and Grand Valley State earned two first-place votes and 40 points.

The Eagles will begin the 2016 season on Sept. 1 at the Angelina Miele Memorial Tournament in Lock Haven, Pa.
