Eagle Volleyball Opens With 3-1 Win At Lock Haven

Ashland University's volleyball team began the 2016 season with a win on Thursday (Sept. 1) night, defeating host Lock Haven, 3-1 (25-15, 18-25, 25-22, 25-13) on Day 1 of the Angelina Miele Memorial Tournament.

Senior outside hitter Alli Cudworth picked up where she left off in 2015, posting a match-high 23 kills to go with 17 digs. Ashland, which had 96 digs as a team in the victory, got 20-plus on defense from both sophomore libero Kaitlin Bean (24) and junior defensive specialist Melanie Aguayo (23).

Sophomore setter Kayla Pfeiffer had 35 assists in the win.

UP NEXT: Day 2 of the Angelina Miele Memorial Tournament on Friday (Sept. 2) – 1 p.m. vs. Charleston (W.Va.) and 5 p.m. with California (Pa.).
