Eagles Stumble At Michigan Tech

The Ashland University volleyball team dropped a straight-set match to host Michigan Tech, 25-15, 25-23, 27-25, in GLIAC action on Friday (Oct. 6) night in Houghton, Mich.

The Eagles (10-6, 4-4 GLIAC) hit .214 for the match, but the Huskies (10-6, 5-3 GLIAC) hit at a .318 clip.

Ashland was not able to slow the Michigan Tech attack, led by 16 kills from MacAulay Petersen (.344).

The Eagles got a great performance from sophomore Sophi Cudworth, who totaled 14 kills and hit .278. Freshman Zoie Franklin racked up eight kills (.250) and nine digs. Freshman setter Kali Apelt had 29 assists and a team-high five blocks. Senior libero Melanie Aguayo had nine digs.

The Eagles will play at Northern Michigan at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 7) in Marquette, Mich.
