Findlay Downs Eagles In Home Finale

The Ashland University volleyball team played its final match at Kates Gymnasium this season, but the Eagles fell to regionally-ranked Findlay in straight sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-13, in nonconference action Tuesday (Nov. 7) night.

The Eagles (14-13) will play one final match in the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 11) at Tiffin. AU can qualify for the GLIAC Tournament with a win over the Dragons.

On Tuesday, Ashland could not get anything going offensively, hitting .073 for the match. The Oilers (25-4), who are ranked eighth in the Midwest Region and have won nine in a row, hit .196 overall.

Sophomore Shelby Woycik paced the Eagles with nine kills (.304) and 11 digs, just missing out on a double-double. Junior Reanne Neal (.385) finished with six kills and three blocks. Freshman Kali Apelt handed out 17 assists.

Amanda Winner led the Oilers with 13 kills, adding eight digs. Kara Scherger had a match-high 13 digs.

First serve at Tiffin on Saturday is set for 2 p.m.
