Woycik Wins GLIAC South Honors For Second Time This Season

Ashland University junior outside hitter Shelby Woycik was selected as the GLIAC South Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Sept. 17) morning.

Woycik was outstanding in three matches last week, helping the Eagles to a 3-0 record and stretching their winning streak to five.

It is the second weekly honor this season for Woycik and the fourth in her career.

She averaged 4.25 kills per set and hit .296 overall. Woycik also recorded double-doubles in all three matches, averaging 3.82 digs per set.

In a 3-1 win over Wayne State last Tuesday, she had 21 kills and 16 digs. On Friday against Saginaw Valley, Woycik put down 10 kills and added 11 digs and five blocks defensively. In just three sets on Saturday against Lake Superior State, Woycik had 16 kills and 15 digs while committing just one error and hitting .500 in the match.

Woycik ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 3.53 kills per set and is third in total kills with 180.

The Eagles (12-2, 5-0 GLIAC) take their perfect conference record on the road this week for matches at Purdue Northwest (Friday, 8 p.m. ET) and Parkside (Saturday, 3 p.m. ET).
