Woycik Wins Second Straight GLIAC South Honor

Ashland University junior outside hitter Shelby Woycik was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week for the second straight time and the third time this season the conference office announced on Monday (Sept. 24) morning. 

Woycik has now won five GLIAC South weekly honors in her career.

Last week, Woycik led the Eagles with 4.67 kills per set while hitting .400. She also finished with 2.5 digs and 0.5 blocks per set as Ashland rolled to a pair of road sweeps.

Woycik totaled 18 kills and hit .438 in a 3-0 win at Purdue Northwest on Friday. She also had eight digs, two aces and two blocks in the match. Against Parkside on Saturday, she had 10 kills (.357) with no hitting errors, along with seven digs.

She ranks third in the GLIAC in kills per set (3.65) and total kills (208).

The Eagles (14-2, 7-0 GLIAC), winners of seven in a row, return to Kates Gymnasium on Friday (Sept. 28) at 7 p.m. to take on Northern Michigan (10-5, 2-5 GLIAC).
