Ashland Sweeps Fifth In A Row, Wins Seventh Straight

The Ashland University volleyball team continued its run of dominant play on Saturday (Oct. 27) afternoon, sweeping Purdue Northwest, 25-15, 25-9, 25-15, at Kates Gymnasium.

The Eagles (23-5, 13-2 GLIAC) have now won seven straight matches, the last five in straight sets. Ashland has just two matches left in the regular season as it preps for postseason play.

On Saturday, the Eagles excelled in all phases as they hit .282 as a team while holding the Pride (3-24, 0-13 GLIAC) to a minus-.011 mark. Ashland's last four opponents have hit under .100.

Freshman Erin Krupar led the AU attack with 10 kills (.261) to go with seven digs. Senior Reanne Neal and junior Shelby Woycik totaled seven kills apiece with Neal hitting .400 in the match. She has hit at least .333 in her last six matches, raising her overall hitting percentage to .330 on the season, which ranks third in the GLIAC.

Senior Michaela Ping put down six kills (.400) and junior Sophi Cudworth added five (.308).

Senior Kaitlin Bean led all players with 14 digs and freshman Zoey Peck contributed 29 assists.

Carissa Jones led the Pride with five kills while Abigail Negri had 17 assists.

The Eagles will now play host to Tiffin on Tuesday (Oct. 30) at 7 p.m. in a nonconference match. Ashland is 11-1 at Kates Gymnasium this season.
