Ashland Holds At No. 7 In Midwest Region Rankings

The Ashland University volleyball team held steady at No. 7 in the second release of the Midwest Region rankings issued on Wednesday (Oct. 31) afternoon by the NCAA.

The Eagles (24-5) were in the same spot last week. The rankings do not factor in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Tiffin, which pushed Ashland's winning streak to eight.

The top eight teams in the region will qualify for the NCAA Tournament, including the tournament champions of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic, Great Lakes Valley and Great Midwest Athletic Conferences. The entire NCAA field will be announced on Nov. 11 at 10 p.m.

AU has won each of the last six matches in straight sets and now has three winning streaks of seven or more on the season.

Ashland will play Wayne State on Saturday (Nov. 3) at 2 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium in the regular season finale.

The Eagles are already assured of playing the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal at home next Wednesday, Nov. 7. They sit in third place in the GLIAC standings.

The full Midwest Region rankings follow.
