Ashland Remains No. 7 In Region Rankings

The Ashland University volleyball team was ranked No. 7 in the third and final release of the NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings issued by the organization on Wednesday (Nov. 7), just hours before the Eagles are set to play in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal at Kates Gymnasium.

The Eagles (25-5) have been in the No. 7 spot in each of the weekly regional rankings.

The top eight teams in the region will earn bids into the NCAA Tournament field with automatic bids going to the winners of the GLIAC, GLVC and G-MAC Tournaments.

Ashland is looking to qualify for its fourth national postseason in the last eight seasons.

The Eagles, seeded No. 3 in the GLIAC Tournament, are red-hot, having won their last nine matches, including the last seven by sweeps. They lost the fewest number of sets in GLIAC play during the regular season.

Ashland is in its first season under head coach Kevin Foeman, who is looking to guide the program to its eighth NCAA Tournament.

The Eagles and No. 6 seed Davenport will play at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal at Kates Gymnasium. All AU students with ID will gain free admission to the match and the first 75 students will receive a free AU volleyball t-shirt.

The full NCAA Midwest Region rankings follow.
