The Ashland University volleyball team had its entire starting lineup named to the All-GLIAC teams the league announced on Friday (Nov. 9) evening between the semifinals of the GLIAC Tournament.
Setter Zoey Peck was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year and junior outside Shelby Woycik was selected to the first team. On the second team were Peck, senior libero Kaitlin Bean, junior outside Sophi Cudworth, freshman outside Erin Krupar and senior middle Reanne Neal. Redshirt-junior middle Michaela Ping was named to the All-GLIAC honorable mention list.
Peck is the third rookie in program history to win GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors and the first since Alli Cudworth in 2013. Peck has played in every point for the Eagles this season as the team's lone healthy setter.
She leads the GLIAC with 1,304 assists, which rank sixth on Ashland's single-season list. She is also second in the GLIAC in assists per set (11.34) and has helped Ashland rank second in the GLIAC in hitting percentage (.235). She averages 2.67 digs per set and has 14 double-doubles on the year.
Peck was the GLIAC South Player of the Week after earning All-Tournament team honors at the Midwest Region Crossover. She set a career high with 60 assists against McKendree that weekend.
Woycik, now a two-time All-GLIAC first team selection, ranks third in the GLIAC with 3.51 kills per set and 386 total kills while hitting .216 on the season. She won three of the 11 GLIAC South Player of the Week awards this season and now has 1,077 kills in her career. Woycik has 17 double-doubles, averaging 2.87 digs per set.
Bean ranks second in the GLIAC with 542 digs, ranking second on Ashland's single-season digs list. She is fifth on AU's all-time digs list with 1,319 and set the school record with 33 in a match against Davenport in September.
Sophi Cudworth had a breakout season, averaging 2.78 kills per set and totaling 317 – a figure that ranks 11th in the GLIAC. She also sits ninth in the league with a .289 hitting percentage and 12th with 73 blocks. Cudworth was the GLIAC South Player of the Week on Oct. 8 after recording a career-high 21 kills against No. 6 Ferris State on Oct. 6. She also had a career-high eight blocks in a 3-0 win at Northwood the day prior.
Krupar ranks seventh in the GLIAC with 351 kills and 10th in the league with 3.05 kills per set. She ranks second on the team with 357 digs and registered 15 double-doubles. Krupar had a career-high 19 kills in a 3-1 win over Hillsdale at the Midwest Region Crossover.
Neal is now a two-time All-GLIAC second team selection. She ranks fourth in the GLIAC in hitting percentage at .314, third in blocks with 111, fifth in blocks per set with 0.97 and ninth in service aces with 26. During a nine-match stretch in October, Neal hit at least .333 eight times. She ranks third all-time in block assists at Ashland with 323.
Ping has now twice been selected to the All-GLIAC honorable mention list. She has totaled 225 kills this season while ranking second on the team with a hitting percentage of .298, which ranks seventh in the GLIAC. She is also second on the team with 108 blocks, sitting in fourth place in the GLIAC.
The Eagles (25-6), in their first season under head coach Kevin Foeman, will find out their NCAA Tournament fate in the selection show on Sunday (Nov. 11) at 10 p.m.
