The Ashland University volleyball team qualified for the NCAA Tournament, earning an at-large bid in the Midwest Region as announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday (Nov. 11) night.
The Eagles (25-6) are the No. 7 seed and will play No. 2-seed Ferris State in Springfield, Mo. in the first round on Thursday (Nov. 15). The time of the match will be announced later. No. 1 seed Drury earned the right to host the Midwest Regional tournament.
This is the eighth NCAA Tournament berth in program history. The Eagles last played in the tournament in 2016 when they earned the No. 6 seed.
The Eagles are in their first season under head coach Kevin Foeman, who will coach in his first national postseason after just missing a bid last season as the head coach at Lake Erie.
Ashland has posted a remarkable season with three winning streaks of at least seven matches and finishing the regular season with seven straight sweeps. None of the Eagles' six losses were in straight sets and five of them were five-set affairs.
The Eagles played the GLIAC champion Bulldogs once this season, taking them to five sets in Big Rapids, Mich. before ultimately falling. AU had three attempts at match point in the fourth set of that match. Now, Ashland and Ferris State will play at a neutral site on Thursday.
