Krupar Named GLIAC South Player of the Week

Ashland University sophomore outside hitter Erin Krupar was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Sept. 16) afternoon.

Krupar helped the Eagles (6-2) finish 2-2 at the Hillsdale Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.

It is the first GLIAC weekly honor of the season for an AU player, and the first in Krupar's career. The Eagles won GLIAC South weekly awards five times in 2018.

She finished the week with 59 kills (4.54 per set) and hit an efficient .248 across 13 sets played. Krupar also averaged 2.62 digs and 0.92 blocks on defense.

The East Sparta, Ohio native put down a career-high 24 kills to go with 14 digs and five blocks in the Eagles' 3-1 win over Findlay in the tournament finale on Saturday, hitting .367 in the match. Krupar had 12 kills (.241) in the AU's 3-0 upset win over No. 16 Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday.

For the season, Krupar is second in the GLIAC in kills per set (4.14). She has 120 kills on the year and is hitting .258.

The Eagles will play four matches this week, beginning Tuesday (Sept. 17) at Malone at 7 p.m. They return to Kates Gymnasium for matches Thursday (7 p.m. vs. Illinois Springfield), Friday (7 p.m. vs. Purdue Northwest) and Saturday (2 p.m. vs. Parkside).
