Eagles Sweep Parkside, Win Fifth Straight

The Ashland University continued on its roll with a sweep of visiting Parkside, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15, on Saturday (Sept. 21) afternoon at Kates Gymnasium.

The Eagles (10-2, 2-0 GLIAC) have won five in a row and improved to 7-0 at home this season.

Ashland hit a season-high .340 offensively with the help of sophomore setter Zoey Peck, who totaled 36 assists and a team-leading 15 digs. The Eagles committed just eight hitting errors on the day.

Senior Sophi Cudworth led the Eagles with 11 kills (.417) and committed just one error to go with three blocks.

Sophomore Erin Krupar and redshirt-junior Lexi Lombardo finished the match without any hitting errors with Krupar going 10-for-23 while Lombardo was 6-for-12.

Redshirt-freshman Chelsey Farris was efficient as well with seven kills (.357) and just two errors on 14 swings. Redshirt-junior Brooke Peiffer chipped in eight kills (.148) and 10 digs.

Junior McKinley Smith had 13 digs and four assists.

The Eagles are one of just three teams to finish the weekend unbeaten in GLIAC play. They will finish this homestand on Tuesday (Sept. 24) at 7 p.m. against Wayne State.
