Ashland University sophomore outside hitter Erin Krupar was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Oct. 28) afternoon.
Krupar helped lead the Eagles to a pair of home wins, including wild comeback, five-set win over No. 18 Ferris State on Saturday at Kates Gymnasium. The Eagles also won on Friday, defeating Northwood in straight sets.
It is the second time this season and in her career that Krupar has won GLIAC South Player of the Week honors. The Eagles have now claimed the award four times with sophomore setter Zoey Peck and redshirt-junior outside Brooke Peiffer winning the other two times.
Krupar finished the week with 25 kills (3.57 per set) and a .380 hitting percentage. She also totaled 11 digs and four blocks in the two matches. Out of her 25 kills, a dozen came in the final final three sets against Ferris State as the Eagles overcame an 0-2 deficit to knock off the Bulldogs.
As the Eagles faced match point four times in the fourth, her kill tied it at 24 in the midst of a 6-0 run by AU that sent the match to a decisive fifth set. She recorded the first kill of the fifth and gave the Eagles a 12-10 lead with another.
On Friday, Krupar finished with nine kills (.583) on just 12 attacks in a 3-0 sweep over Northwood.
She ranks sixth in the GLIAC in total kills (307) and kills per set (3.49).
The Eagles (20-4, 9-2 GLIAC) are tied for second place overall in the GLIAC standings and have a three-match lead in the GLIAC South.
They will head to Parkside (8-15, 3-8 GLIAC) on Friday (Nov. 1) for an 8 p.m. match.
