Ashland Sits No. 7 In Midwest Region Rankings

The Ashland University volleyball team is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings released on Wednesday (Nov. 13) afternoon.

The Eagles (22-6) dropped two spots from their initial position last week after taking defeats to Tiffin and Wayne State last week.

The top eight teams in the rankings following the conference tournaments will earn bids to the NCAA Tournament with automatic qualification going to the tournament champions of the GLIAC, Great Lakes Valley and Great Midwest Athletic Conferences.

The top seed in the region will earn the right to host the first three rounds. The entire field will be announced on Nov. 25.

The Eagles had won seven in a row going into last week, including a thrilling, comeback five-set win over Ferris State on Oct. 26.

AU is seeking its second consecutive berth into the national tournament in its second season under head coach Kevin Foeman.

The Eagles close the regular season this week, hosting Grand Valley State on Friday (Nov. 15) at 7 p.m., followed by their Senior Day match on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 5 p.m. against Davenport at Kates Gymnasium.
