Eagles Stay At No. 7 In Midwest Region Rankings

The Ashland University volleyball team held steady at the No. 7 spot in the third and final release of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings issued on Wednesday (Nov. 20) afternoon.

The Eagles (24-6), who open GLIAC Tournament play at home tonight at 7 p.m. against Northern Michigan, were in the No. 7 position last week as well after debuting at No. 5 on Nov. 6.

The top eight teams in the rankings following the conference tournaments will earn bids to the NCAA Tournament with automatic qualification going to the tournament champions of the GLIAC, Great Lakes Valley and Great Midwest Athletic Conferences. The entire tournament field will be announced on Monday (Nov. 25).

The top seed in the region will earn the right to host the entire Midwest Regional the first full weekend of December.

Ashland is coming off a pair of home wins to close the regular season against Grand Valley State and Davenport.

The Eagles, under second-year head coach Kevin Foeman, are seeking their second straight NCAA Tournament berth.

The winner of tonight's GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal matches will head to the site of the top remaining seed to play the semifinals and final on Saturday and Sunday.
