High School/College – At Chardon, Stratman was a two-time All-Ohio pick, posting personal bests of 4:14 (1600) and 9:44 (3200).  His freshman year at Ashland he recorded a personal best of 26:50 (8K) in cross country. He was redshirted in indoor and outdoor track and field. His sophomore year his best time in cross country was 25:28. He was a member of the team that qualified for nationals.  He recorded a season best of 3:52 in track for 1500 meters. Stratman finished third at the GLIAC championships in the 1500.  As a junior he was redshirted in cross country. He recorded best times of 3:54 and 14:58 in track. Stratman placed sixth in the 1500 at the outdoor conference meet.  As a junior, he finished 16th at the NCAA cross country regional championships with a personal best of 31:59 (10K).  Indoors, he anchored the DMR to a conference title. He ran a best of 8:41 for 3000 meters. Outdoors, he clocked a best of 9:25 in the 3K steeple in his first year competing in that event. He placed fifth in the steeple and 5K at the GLIAC outdoor championships.
