College - Windle is considered one of the most dominant runners in the country. During his junior season he was a member of the distance medley relay which won the national title in 2014. Windle repeated as national champion in 800 meter run in both the indoor and outdoor season. He named the 2014 National Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. His personal best in the 800 was the second-fastest 800 meters among all collegians and the fastest in Division II indoor history in 1:46.52 at the GVSU Big Meet. Windle won GLIAC titles at 800 meters and in the 4×400 and distance medley relays.

As a sophomore in 2012-13, he captured national titles in the 800 indoors and outdoors. He also ran a leg on AU's national championship 4X400 relay at the indoor championships. Windle was named the national track athlete of the year for the 2013 indoor season. His best mark in the 600 - 1:17.45 - came at the Grand Valley State Big Meet during the indoor season. His best mark in the 800 (1:48.04) was logged at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships. In 2011-12, Windle captured indoor and outdoor GLIAC championships in the 800 meters. He earned four All-America citations. Indoors, he was sixth in the 800 and seventh in the distance medley relay. Outdoors, he capped off his freshman season by placing fourth in the 800 and ran the anchor leg on the 4X4 relay that was seventh. 

High School – Windle holds four school records, including three relays and the 800 meters where he set a personal best of 1:51.94 winning the state title in Division I. Windle was named all-conference and all-district in the 4x4 and 4x8 where he set a personal best of 48.6 in the 400.
