Baum, Phelps, Win First Race of the Season

The Ashland University men's and women's cross country had an excellent start to the 2014 season. Both teams competed at the Doug Watts Open Invitational hosted by Edinboro University Saturday (September 6) morning.  

Ashland finished first out of the six men's teams competing. AU collected 29 points. Host Edinboro finished the day with 40.

Four Eagle men finished in the top ten. Senior Brian Baum finished first, Nick Hall was second, Isaac Potes placed fifth and David Knack was 10th.

On the women's side sophomore Delainey Phelps finished in first place with a time of 17:37 for the 5K event.

As a team the Eagles placed second under Yeowomen of Oberlin College. OC finished with 45 total points, and AU with 50.

Anna Mion recorded a top 10 finish today. She came across the finish line in ninth with a time of 18:42.

The Eagles travel to East Lansing, Mich., next weekend (Sept. 12) for the Spartan Invite.
