Eagles Impress at All-Ohio Championships

The Ashland University men's and women's cross country teams traveled down to Cedarville University on Friday (Oct. 3) for the All-Ohio Collegiate Championships and didn't fail to impress.

The AU men finished in fourth place overall and second in division II behind Malone University. The Eagle women finished in ninth place overall and second in division II behind Malone also. A total of 43 men's teams and 42 women's teams from all over Ohio competed in the championships.

Ashland University's Brian Baum had a strong showing finishing in third place overall and was the top finisher among division II athletes. Baum finished his run in 24:42. The winner of the 8k was Joseph Turner from Miami (Ohio), he ran the course in 24:32. AU's Nick Hall snuck in the top ten finishing ninth with a time of 25:09. Isaac Potes finished right on the heels of Hall in 11th place with a time of 25:13.

On the women's side, Delainey Phelps had an impressive eighth place finish overall, running a 22:31. She was second among division II athletes behind only Malone's Hannah Campbell. Emma Lehmann from Oberlin College won the women's 6k with a time of 21:41. Kylee Bernthisel also had a nice finish for the Eagles with a time of 23:01. She finished the race in 29th place.

The Eagles will next be competing in the Jenna Strong Fall Classic on October 17th in Wilmington, Ohio. The meet will start at 4:30 pm.
