Lance, Schumaker Lead Eagles At All-Ohio Meet

Ashland University's cross country teams competed in the annual All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio, on Friday (Sept. 29) afternoon, a meet that consisted of 343 women's runners and 323 men.
 
The top five Eagle men accumulated 551 points in the 8K race, one more than 19th-place Xavier and eight less than 21st-place Baldwin Wallace. There were 38 teams.
 
Of the 40 women's teams in the 6K, AU placed 26th with 788 points, 20 behind Oberlin and 15 ahead of Heidelberg.
 
Nine men ran for Ashland, and senior Tyler Lance (74th place, 26:24.5), sophomore Kyle Shively (97th, 26:42), sophomore Tyler Sievert (130th, 27:01.8), freshman Cody Booth (135th, 27:03.5) and freshman Nathaniel Redden (150th, 27:15.8) were the top Eagles.
 
Junior Emily Schumaker (132nd, 23:54.1), sophomore Johannah Stefanek (152nd, 24:16.8), freshman Raechal Schoenberger (180th, 24:44.3), sophomore Haylee Zigan (214th, 25:22.9) and freshman Lexi Butterbaugh (216th, 25:25.9) led the nine Eagle women.
 
AU's next meet is the Carnegie Mellon Hampton Inn Pittsburgh Invitational on Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. at Schenley Park.
